The Heat 04 KD Girls had the perfect outcome in the Heat 3v3 Winter Classic: they took first and second place in the competitive field, earning the right for the Blue and Orange KD O4 teams to play each other in the final.
Next up for the girls will be a winter indoor season to work on first touch, creativity, and finishing.
The Heat 04 KD girls played up in the fall after dominating their age group in previous seasons. Looking to take on the challenge of bigger, stronger girls in the older U9 age bracket they found it, being pushed unlike they had in the past. In the end, the team lost but one game (to Heat 03 MB), and Coach Kurt Divich believes that the pressure of the talented older girls helped his group develop much more quickly.
“They’re an amazing group that rises to any challenge,” said Divich. “Certainly, we were forced to defend and pass much more against the older teams but in the end, we’re better for it.”
